Software Update
If you are using the direct download version of WriteRoom then you can control when to check for updates and what kinds of updates to check for. If you are using the Mac App Store version of WriteRoom then updates are handled by the Mac App Store.
For the direct download version of WriteRoom:
To check for updates:
- Use WriteRoom > Check for Update…
To check for updates automatically:
- Use WriteRoom > Settings > General and turn on "Check for updates automatically"
To include preview release updates:
- Use WriteRoom > Settings > General and turn on "Include "Preview" releases in updates"
You can tell if you are using a preview release by looking in the menu bar. Instead of "WriteRoom" you'll see something like "WriteRoom 4.0 Preview (404)". Preview releases expire two weeks after they're built, so keep them updated.
Updates and Your License
Your license includes updates through a date one year after you buy or extend it. If an update was released after your update period ended, WriteRoom tells you before installing it. Install it anyway and WriteRoom runs in Read-Only Mode until you extend your updates. Or choose Earlier Versions… to download one released during your update period.
