Appearance

Licensing ​

WriteRoom is free to try. Without a license it opens in Read-Only Mode: you can open, read, select, copy, and print any document, but typing is turned off. A license unlocks WriteRoom.

Free Trial ​

The free trial unlocks WriteRoom for 14 days.

To start a free trial ​

  • Click Start Free Trial in the window that appears when WriteRoom opens
  • Or click Start Free Trial in WriteRoom > Settings > License

The title bar shows the days left in your trial. Click it for License settings.

Buying a License ​

A license includes one year of updates. Versions released during that year keep working after it ends. Extend your updates to get another year.

Each license can be activated on 3 Macs.

To buy a license ​

  • Click Buy License when WriteRoom opens, or in WriteRoom > Settings > License

To enter your license ​

  1. Open WriteRoom > Settings > License
  2. Paste your license key into the License Key field
  3. Click Activate License

To recover a lost license key ​

  • Click Recover License in WriteRoom > Settings > License and enter the email address you bought with. WriteRoom emails your keys to you.

Managing Your License ​

In WriteRoom > Settings > License:

  • Deactivate License: frees this Mac so you can use the license on another one
  • Extend Updates: add another year of updates
  • Change…: change the email address on your license
  • Earlier Versions…: when your update period has ended, download a version released during it

If your license is already active on 3 Macs, WriteRoom offers to deactivate one of the others. You confirm by email.
