Compatible text editor apps need to have support for the ODB Editor Suite for QuickCursor to work with it; please contact the developer(s) of your favorite text editor and ask them to add this in a future update. In QuickCursor 2.6+, you can add the Bundle ID yourself from QuickCursor's preferences window. Of course, the app itself still needs to be compatible. For example:
| Editor | BundleID |
|---|---|
| Mou | com.mouapp.mou |
| TextMate 2 | com.macromates.textmate.preview |
| Sublime Text 2 | com.sublimetext.2 |
The quote level bars in Mail.app don't translate to plain text format very well, which is why most text editors have trouble seeing them. QuickCursor will work on selections of text, which for now is the best workaround (avoid selecting quotes). The developers of TextMate have figured out a way around this, and if we can find out more about this we'll look into adding similar support.
Current workaround: Close the window instead of quitting TextMate (cmd+s, cmd+w instead of cmd+s, cmd+q). Unfortunately this appears to be a bug behavior in TextMate; we've filed a bug report with them and hopefully this issue gets fixed in an update.
Check to see if you have a conflicting input manager. Spell Catcher X can sometimes cause shortcut recorder conflicts with QuickCursor. If you create a fresh user account, you can start QuickCursor, record a shortcut, and then start launching your regular utilities until you find the culprit. If you're a developer whose app experiences shortcut recorder problems alongside QuickCursor, please contact us to see if we can resolve the conflict!
In most cases, QuickCursor takes its cue for file extensions from the file's title in the menu bar. Coda doesn't seem to pass along this info. The fix: Add a temporary file extension for your current file in QuickCursor's preferences.
Sorry, no.
Due to an increasing number of problems related to OS X sandboxing, QuickCursor no longer works reliably with sandboxed apps, and inconsistently so for many. Without a clear and confident timeline for the next update with a stable fix, we removed QuickCursor from sale on 11 December 2012. The app should still be re-downloadable from the Purchases tab in App Store.app for those who previously purchased it, but no new purchases can be made.
